Axl was born in Lafayette, in the middle of Indiana. His name at birth was William Bruce Rose, but at the age of 2 his mom took him and left. She remarried L. Stephen Bailey and Axl was raised to believe that his name was William/Bill Bailey, and his father was L. Stephen Bailey. Axl's childhood sucked. Abuse from both step-dad and real dad. He was raised to fear god and think that women were evil. He was also picked on at school for being 'different'..........Anyway, when he was 16 or 17 he found some papers that said his last name was Rose and then he found out about his REAL dad. He changed his name to W. Rose. He hitchhiked to LA and met up with childhood friend Jeff Isabell (Izzy). They were in a band called AXL, but "W." took the name for himself as Izzy's suggestion. He were in a couple other bands (including Hollywood Rose and LA Guns (which is how he came to meet all the other members of Gn'R)), but eventually they became Guns N' Roses. Axl has gotten a really strange reputation over the years. Axl's mum and real father are now dead. He doesn't speak to his step-father but is close to his half brother (stuart) and half sister(Amy) (they have the same mother as Axl but their dad is L. Stephen Bailey). Axl's step-dad L. Stephen sexually abused Amy. Axl is currently working on a new album Chinese Democracy with no original band members.
